Scénographie qui mêle rites subliminaux et apparitions de récits vers des altérités ressenties.
Le travail scénographique qui accompagne l’exposition Possédé·e·s* plonge le spectateur dans une expérience qui l'entraîne vers des scènes quasi-cinématographiques, rythmées par les espaces et la lumière. En collaboration avec le créateur lumière Serge Damon, la visite repose d’abord sur un retournement de la fonction architecturale du bâtiment, où le patio vient enrober les coursives par des "des paysages en trompe l'œil" sur des ouvertures qui sont closes pour l’occasion. Les arches soulignées discrètement de lamelles de cuivres deviennent des passages initiatiques et invitent le spectateur à faire l’expérience mystique des œuvres déjà chargées de puissance et d’étrangeté. C’est donc dans un grand dialogue avec le projet curatorial, les artistes, les espaces ou encore la lumière que Mr.&Mr. imagine une scénographie entre domesticité, expérience immersive et explorations intuitives.
*L’exposition Possédé·e·s rassemble plus de 25 artistes internationaux. Elle explore le rapport entre l’ésotérisme et l’art contemporain. En particulier, comment les corps exclus (les corps genrés, racisés, politisés) se réapproprient les identités féministes, queer ou décoloniales dans la nuit de l’occulte.
A scenography that mixes subliminal rites with the manifestations of narratives of perceived otherness. The scenographic work that accompanies the Possédé·e·s exhibition immerses the viewer in an experience that leads them towards quasi-cinematic scenes, punctuated by spaces and light. In collaboration with the lighting designer Serge Damon, the visit is based primarily on a reversal of the architectural function of the building, where the patio covers the corridors with "trompe l'oeil landscapes" over the openings which are closed for the occasion. The arches discreetly underlined with brass blades become initiatory passages and beckon the spectator towards a mystical experience of works already loaded with power and peculiarity. As such, in a large-scale dialogue with the curatorial project, the artists, the spaces or the light, Mr. & Mr. have imagined this scenography that is located between domesticity, immersive experience and intuitive explorations.
*The Possédé·e·s exhibition brings together more than 25 international artists. It explores the relationship between esotericism and contemporary art. In particular, the ways in which excluded bodies (gendered, racialized, politicized bodies) reappropriate feminist, queer or decolonial identities in the night of the occult.
