Scénographie organique et séquencée.
Mecarõ est le titre de l’exposition éponyme d’une partie de la collection de Catherine Petitgas présentée au Mo.Co. Hotel des collections et qui regroupe des œuvres d’artistes du bassin amazonien.
Le projet Mecarõ, l’esprit de la forêt, est porté par une scénographie pensée pour accompagner les imaginaires des visiteurs au cœur de la collection. Par un parcours séquencé plus que fragmenté, la scénographie laisse la place à la présence des œuvres qu’elles soient immersives, à contempler ou à traverser. Si la couleur ci et là rythme le parcours, c’est le liège expansé, en accord avec les artistes, Catherine Petitgas et l’équipe curatoriale, qui vient souligner les enjeux artistiques et accompagner les œuvres vers le visiteur. Organique, ce matériau composé exclusivement d’écorce d’arbre trace le chemin, modèle les assises, compose les soclages et dessine les mises à distance dans un aller-retour de présence-absence.
Organic and sequenced scenography. Mecarõ is the title of the eponymous exhibition, drawn from Catherine Petitgas’ collection, which is currently being shown at the Mo.Co. Hotel des collections and which gathers together works by artists from the Amazon basin. The Mecarõ – spirit of the forest – project is carried by a scenography conceived with the aim of guiding the visitors into the heart of the collection. By way of an exhibition path that is more sequenced than fragmented, Mecarõ’s scenography gives way to the presence of the artworks themselves, be they immersive, contemplative or intended for the visitor to cross them. Dashes of colour here and there provide the pace along the exhibition’s route, yet it is the expanded cork approved by the artists, Catherine Petitgas and the curatorial team that emphasizes the artistic themes and connects the artworks to the visitors. This organic material composed entirely from tree bark sets out the pathway through the exhibition, forms the seats, forges the basing and sets the distances in a constant oscillation between presence and absence.
